GrooveMiami is a winner of The Miami Foundation’s 2015 Public Space Challenge, an initiative that aims to foster community by activating and improving Miami’s public spaces. The team met at a Public Space Challenge workshop sponsored by Design Thinking Miami and realized that dancing exists at the crossroads of many interests, making it a perfect activity to unite people. “Dance is universally enjoyed, culturally significant, and a great workout” said team member, Alissa Farina, “we’re excited to see the connections made by bringing together a variety of people in a public space.”
